The WCHE Entertainment and Culture Show, hosted by Steven Brodsky, connects listeners to what's exciting and relevant in the worlds of entertainment, the arts,
and culture in our region and beyond. |

"Today, Charlie Louvin, half of the Louvin Brothers country and gospel music duo, passed away at age 83.
Earlier this week, Jack LaLanne, fitness pioneer and an inspiration to millions of
people, passed away at age 96. I'm saddened at the loss of these two
national treasures. Condolences to the family and friends of Charlie Louvin and Jack LaLanne."

"Congratulations to the Walnut Street Theatre on their staging of Peter Shaffer's Amadeus. Audiences are moved by the majestic highs and heartbreaking lows in the life of musical genius Mozart. They also are engaged by the play's portrayal of Mozart's complex relationship with his jealousy plagued contemporary, Salieri.
Salieri's monologue to God, performed by actor Dan Olmstead, will be one of the memories theatergoers will treasure long after this production closes. I recommend this play. Amadeus runs through March 6th."

"Laura Eason's stage adaptation of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer at the People's Light & Theatre revivifies not only some aspects of a Twain book of our youth, it helps to reaquaint adults with the wonder, adventure and imagination of their own childhood days. With this production, you may find that you can happily go home again, to some, perhaps dormant, but very alive parts of yourself. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer runs through March 13, 2011. www.peopleslight.org "

"Henrik Ibsen's The Master Builder, translated by Paul Walsh and staged at People's Light and Theatre, offers a structurally sound theatre experience... This is theatre that respects the intelligence of its audience. For theatre that is worthy of after-show reflection and further consideration, don't miss this.
The Master Builder runs through April 17, 2011. www.peopleslight.org "
